Born and raised in Israel, trombonist Reut Regev has been living in NYC for over a decade, collaborating, recording and touring with some of the finest musicians in various fields, including Latin, Klezmer, Rock, Blues, Jazz, contemporary classical and improvised music. She has recorded and toured with Anthony Braxton, Butch Morris, Joe Bataan, Hazmat Modine and Frank London to name a few.
In her band R*time, Reut combines influences from her versatile experience, while keeping soul and creativity as the guiding light. Her music has been described as "Stoner Funk", "Futuristic Tribalism" , "worldly informed" and as music that "straddles the heavy metal bebop divide."
For this special Make Music New York event, R*time features guitarist Jean Paul Bourelly (Muhal Richard Abrams, Miles Davis, Elvin Jones), bassist Mark Peterson (James Blood Ulmer, Ornette Coleman, Joan Baez), and Igal Foni, one of NYC's best kept secrets on drums. This is the full quartet as featured on Reut's recent Enja release "Exploring the Vibe". Presented with Israel's Office of Cultural Affairs in NY.
Now in its seventh year, Make Music New York, is a festival of over 1,000 free concerts in public spaces throughout the five boroughs of New York City, all on Friday, June 21, the first day of summer. MMNY takes place simultaneously with similar festivities in more than 500 cities around the world in a global celebration of music making.
