The Lights Before Christmas
an orginal holiday tale on ice
Carrie Ann Inaba, as narrator
Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje
and The Haydenettes
With a live Christmas music soundtrack by Lapis Luna
Made possible by Bank of America
Tree Lighting Skate-tacular is an original holiday tale about a very special family on the night before Christmas.
Internationally acclaimed figure skaters perform as some of the story's characters: Johnny Weir, two-time Olympian and first-ever Winter Village Skating Ambassador performs as Santa. Reigning world champion Javier Fernandez and the world's top-ranked ice dancing team, Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje, play the roles of everyday New Yorkers. Kimmie Meissner, former Olympian and 2006 World Champion skater, and The Haydenettes, the reigning 24-time U.S. National Champion synchronized skating team, round out the star-studded cast. The skaters perform to live Christmas music played by the authentically swinging New York City big band, Lapis Luna, accompanied by custom video animation and audience-interactive giveaways.
After the beautiful 50-foot Norway Spruce is lit during a sparkling fireworks display, the rink will open again to public skating accompanied by Lapis Luna performing an additional hour-long concert of holiday favorites and glittering standards.
Tree Lighting Skate-tacular honors the efforts of (RED) and their mission to eradicate AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa. This spectacular holiday event is made possible by Bank of America.
