Bryant Park Painter in Residence Program
Bryant Park Corporation (BPC) invites applicants to participate in the sixth annual Painter in Residence Program for the purpose of creating representational imagery of Bryant Park. The paintings will be a visual record of Bryant Park from a painter's perspective. Four painters will be selected to paint outdoors in Bryant Park for a two week period each as follows:
Program 1 – July 10 to July 21
Program 2 – July 24 to August 4
Program 3 – August 7 to August 18
Program 4 – August 21 to September 1
These paintings are commissioned by BPC and become the company's sole property.
Subject matter: Landscapes and iconic features of Bryant Park
Painting schedule: Daily (cancelled in case of rain; rescheduled with approval of Bryant Park program manager.)
Stipend: $1000 per week plus a one-time supplemental fund of up to $500 for materials. Amount for materials will be confirmed with receipts.
Application Deadline: May 31, 2017
Announcement of Award: June 15, 2017
The competition is open to all U.S. citizens. Minimum age to participate is 18. Any artwork submitted for consideration must have been completed in the last two years. Though representational styles will be given preference, innovative and experimental approaches are welcome. Likewise, art using either traditional or alternative media will be accepted.
The submitted art will be juried by a group comprised of selected BPC staff members and select members of New York City's art community.
Application Process and Required Materials:
All applications must include the following in PDF format: a completed application form (pages 3 & 4 of this document); an artist statement; and a resume or CV outlining education, awards, shows, and relevant reviews of work.
Applications must also include images of the candidate's work in JPEG format (see Artwork Submission Requirements below). Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Artists may apply by email or U.S. mail.

The electronic copies of all application materials (including completed application, artist statement, resume or CV, and samples of your work) must be saved onto one standard CD, DVD, or USB formatted for PC. Please write your name, address, phone number, and email address on the CD, DVD, or USB.
Please do not submit slides or print photographs with this application. All CDs, DVDs, or USBs become the property of Bryant Park Corporation. Unfortunately, we cannot return any materials submitted to Bryant Park Corporation.

Artwork Submission Requirements:
Up to twelve (12) images of works of art
Images cannot be larger than 900 pixels in any one direction or orientation
Images must be in JPEG format at 72dpi.
Images must be titled in the following format:
Last name_First name_Title_Year_Size_Medium.jpg
Please avoid including special characters/symbols (such as ", ?, ! etc.) in the title when you save the images.
